Definition and Usage

The onpause event occurs when the audio/video is paused either by the user or programmatically.

Tip: The onplay event occurs when the audio/video has started to play.


Browser Support

The numbers in the table specify the first browser version that fully supports the event.

Syntax

In HTML:

Note: The addEventListener() method is not supported in Internet Explorer 8 and earlier versions.
